Though the incident remains under investigation, a recent fatal motorcycle crash happened in the same manner that many other crashes have occurred. The accident apparently occurred on June 5th in New Haven.
The motorcyclist was approaching the intersection of Dixwell Avenue while traveling in a southward direction, and the driver of a Chevy Camaro was approaching the same intersection was traveling in a northward direction. It was reported that the driver of the Camaro turned left at the intersection directly in front of the motorcycle rider, and the motorcyclist was then killed when a collision occurred.
We will need to find out what the results of the investigation uncover before any conclusions can be made as to who was at fault for the motorcycle accident. However, we do often hear about motorcycles being cut-off at intersections or involved in accidents because a car failed to yield the right-of-way.
Car drivers often do not pay attention to motorcycles being on the road. Drivers on the interstate do not always check their mirrors to see if a motorcycle is riding beside them. Drivers sometimes will pull out into an intersection without taking the time to see if a motorcycle is approaching. And drivers sometimes simply seem to think that a motorcycle could never have the right-of-way at an intersection.
