The vehicle that was struck hit a guardrail and spun into the center of the interstate. Two people in this vehicle suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital. The car that struck it rolled upside down. One passenger in this vehicle suffered a skull fracture and internal injuries; he lost his ear and a section of his scalp. Meanwhile, another passenger in the vehicle lost his thumb and index finger as a result of the accident, according to authorities.
The man who police say caused the accident will have to face criminal charges. However, he may also have to deal with lawsuits from the injured victims, seeking reimbursement of monetary damages stemming from the collision. Car accidents are a likely result of drunk driving because alcohol impairs a person’s judgment and coordination skills. The charges that the driver faces could be used to establish liability in personal injury claims in a Connecticut civil court.
