A few years ago in Connecticut, a tragic accident happened when one dump truck struck a vehicle that was carrying a young boy. This boy suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. Just recently, a jury awarded the boy’s family $8 million in light of the unfortunate auto accident.

At the time of the crash, a man was traveling with two sons as well as the boys’ two friends. Their vehicle was then struck by the truck while they were nearing an intersection. A 9-year-old boy in the automobile required extrication from his vehicle. He suffered brain injuries due to the crash’s impact.

The boy did survive, but will have long-term difficulties because of the brain injuries caused by the vehicle collision, according to the family. The trial regarding the matter lasted for three weeks. At the end of the trial, the driver of the truck that allegedly hit the boy’s car was found to have been driving negligently.

As a result, the driver’s company, called Designing Nature, was ordered to pay the family millions of dollars in damages. The total included $5 million for non-economic and nearly $3 million for economic damages. The company may be ordered to pay even more to cover the plaintiff’s legal fees. Monetary relief from a case in which the outcome favors the victim can be helpful for addressing ongoing medical costs and other losses that our state laws recognize in the wake of a personal injury auto accident in Connecticut.
