Being cautious when operating a vehicle near a motorcyclist is critical, as people on bikes don’t have the protection that motorists in enclosed vehicles enjoy. In a recent Connecticut motor vehicle collision, a person riding a motorcycle suffered serious injuries. This bike accident took place during the morning hours.
The collision took place on East Middle Turnpike in Manchester. Police said the motorcyclist, who happened to be a local EMT, was driving west on the roadway. Her motorcycle collided with an automobile that was making a turn onto a local street.
The motorcyclist suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital, where her condition remained critical. The car driver was also taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, though no further details were provided. Police said that neither driver appeared to be impaired, and speed was not thought to have been a factor in the crash.
After the police investigate the crash, it may become clearer exactly what caused the two-vehicle collision. If the driver of the car is deemed to have been at fault in the accident, a personal injury claim filed by the motorcyclist may be an appropriate legal remedy. For example, the driver of the car may have been operating the vehicle while distracted or disobeyed another traffic law.
