When a person is riding in a car, his or her life is literally in the hands of other drivers behind the wheel on the road. If one or more drivers fail to be cautious, people can end up with critical injuries. Four people found themselves with injuries following a recent auto accident in Connecticut.
The accident happened in the area of Interstate 84 after 8 a.m. recently. A vehicle started to go onto the road’s grassy left shoulder after the driver ended up losing control of the automobile. The vehicle then went toward the right and across the interstate, plowing through an interstate guard rail. It then went over an embankment that was 30 feet tall.
The accident caused four people to suffer injuries, with three people being thrown from the car. The fourth victim remained inside the vehicle. The victims were transported to the hospital; two of them had to be flown there by helicopter, while the other two traveled there by ambulance. The crash also affected traffic for several hours while police gathered evidence from the crash scene.
The injured passengers in the vehicle may choose to file personal injury claims against the driver. They have the right to seek the reimbursement of monetary damages stemming from the auto accident, which could help them with medical expenses connected to the accident and even cover the loss of wages, as their injuries may prevent them from returning to work for a period of time. If evidence exists that the driver was driving while distracted or engaging in some other type of negligent behavior, this may be provided in a Connecticut civil court in an effort to establish the fact that he or she is liable for the accident-related injuries. If liability is properly established, a judge will determine monetary damage claims in the plaintiffs’ favor.
