A bicycle ride for one individual in Connecticut recently turned into a tragedy for him and his family members after a car struck the bicyclist. In this scenario, it’s natural for the victim’s loved ones to feel emotionally spent and seek answers regarding the cause of the accident. No amount of monetary compensation can bring back a family member who has been killed in an auto accident, but it may help to address the expenses that inevitably result from these types of tragedies.
The accident took place at about 5 p.m. on a recent Friday. The crash occurred in the vicinity of Route 189, according to authorities. Police said the man who was riding the bicycle suffered life-threatening injuries. When he was found in the road, he was unconscious.
Bystanders tried to help him medically until emergency responders could get to the accident scene. The man was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead, according to officials. The driver of the pickup truck that apparently struck the pickup truck remained at the accident scene and suffered no injuries. The front of the driver’s truck was damaged. Authorities investigated the accident scene for multiple hours following the incident.
If the driver of the pickup truck is found to have caused the accident due to negligent behavior, such as speeding or operating a vehicle while distracted, he or she may be held financially liable for the accident. The family of the bicyclist reserves the right to sue the driver, seeking financial damages that can cover the victim’s funeral costs and other losses related to the Connecticut auto accident. It’s necessary for liability to be established according to a civil court’s requirements before a judge will consider the surviving family members’ claims for damages.
