Getting hit by a car while strolling along a road can have fatal results. Unfortunately, sometimes drivers don’t see pedestrians in time due to driving while distracted or because motorists are operating their vehicles too quickly, thus leading to pedestrian accidents. One woman recently passed away after being struck by a car in Connecticut.
The incident occurred in the area of Route 30 on a recent Wednesday morning. After being hit by a car, the woman passed away at the accident scene. She was 58 years old. The man who drove the car involved in the accident is 66 years old, police said.
The man stayed at the accident scene and was cooperative with police. Police continued to investigate the crash; no charges have been filed in relation to the accident yet. A part of the street where the crash happened remained closed for multiple hours following the incident.
The family members of the woman who died might try to hold the male driver accountable for their loved one’s death. They have the right to file a liability claim against the driver, seeking to be reimbursed for monetary damages sustained in these types of pedestrian accidents and recognized under Connecticut law. For instance, financial restitution can help to cover the woman’s funeral expenses and even the loss of support if her family depended on her income. If police evidence shows that the man was behaving negligently on the road when the accident happened, this might be offered as proof of a casual factor in the fatal crash.
