One female pedestrian’s life was unfortunately cut short as a result of a recent car accident in Connecticut. Pedestrian accidents often take place because the driver of the car that struck the walker may not have been paying close attention. In other cases, the driver might have been deliberately disobeying road rules when he or she hit the pedestrian. In either event, the grieving family of the person who died in the accident reserves the right to hold the driver accountable in light of the accident.
The recent Connecticut accident occurred when a woman who was 71 years old was walking north across a road near an intersection. At that time, a car heading east hit her, police said. The woman was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for her serious injuries.
The woman eventually died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash. Meanwhile, the 76-year-old driver suffered no injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear exactly why the driver hit the woman, and police continue to investigate the crash.
The family of the deceased woman may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the driver who allegedly caused the fatal accident. They can seek financial damages, which can be helpful for paying for the woman’s funeral costs and other end-of-life expenses as well as hospital bills. Financial restitution from successful cases involving pedestrian accidents can also help to address emotional distress stemming from the accident. It will be necessary for the plaintiffs to offer sufficient proof that the driver acted negligently before the court will decide damage claims in their favor in Connecticut.
