It’s natural for the family members of a motorcyclist who has been seriously injured in a vehicle crash to feel distraught. Motorcyclists can easily be injured because they don’t have the walls of protection that passengers and motorists in cars do. Two individuals were recently hurt following a bike accident in Connecticut.

The accident took place on Interstate 84 right before 4 p.m. one day. Police said two individuals were on a motorcycle and collided with a car. The two people on the bike suffered injuries deemed to be life-threatening. Rescuers were trying to perform CPR on a motorcyclist at the accident scene.

This accident was so bad that it closed the lanes going east for three hours and backed up traffic for miles. The wreck also slowed down the flow of traffic on the westbound lanes. According to police, the vehicle that allegedly crashed into the motorcycle fled the accident scene.

If the car driver is caught, he or she will likely be criminally charged for leaving the scene of an accident. The person might also face other legal challenges if the people on the motorcycle decide to sue him or her. The bikers can pursue personal injury claims for the payment of financial losses incurred in the bike accident, such as lost wages and medical expenses. Financial restitution from a claim that is fought productively can also help to address pain and suffering or emotional distress resulting from the crash. If the car driver ends up being convicted, evidence of this may be used to try to prove his or her financial responsibility for the Connecticut wreck.
