When operating a semi-truck, a truck driver has a responsibility to exercise caution behind the wheel. This is critical because trucks are large and can cause immense damage in a split second if their drivers are behaving negligently. Unfortunately, one person died and another individual was injured in a recent semi-truck accident in Connecticut.
The accident occurred at just after 5 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. It occurred when a 53-year-old woman was driving a car behind a semi-truck. Both the truck and the car slowed down due to area construction. All of a sudden, another semi-truck collided with the car, police said.
This pushed the car into the semi-truck in front of it, according to authorities. The car’s driver ended up dying as a result of the collision. Meanwhile, her 41-year-old female passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle; she suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Both semi-truck drivers suffered no injuries.
The family members of the deceased driver may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver who allegedly ran into the woman’s car. A suit may also be filed against the truck driver’s employer. The injured passenger might also decide to file a liability suit following the semi-truck accident. Suits that are fought in the plaintiffs’ favor may help them to obtain funds to offset any costs linked to the accident. These include medical bills in the case of the injured party as well as funeral costs and other end-of-life expenses in the case of the deceased party in Connecticut.
