When people are injured or die in a vehicle crash, it is a sad event that may affect many individuals in the community as well as the victims’ families in Connecticut. One overnight crash recently took place in Connecticut. It involved just one vehicle in the area of Route 44, near Interstate 384. According to police, the two crash victims included a man said to be 21 and a woman said to be 23. The accident happened when the driver did not negotiate a certain curve properly. Their truck ended up striking a guardrail made of metal.
A helicopter took both victims to the hospital. The younger victim died as a result of his injuries. Meanwhile, the older victim suffered serious injuries to her rib and pelvis. The road where the accident occurred had to be shut down for many hours following the crash but was later reopened early in the morning during rush hour. Police continued to investigate the accident.
Failing to navigate a curve can happen for a myriad of reasons, including distracted driving or speeding, which may be considered negligent behavior. If the person who was injured was the one driving the car, she may face a wrongful death claim filed by the family members of the deceased man. Meanwhile, if the man was the driver, his estate and any separate owner of the vehicle he was driving might be sued. The plaintiff has the right to seek damages, which can help to cover any losses tied to the Connecticut auto accident, such as burial costs or hospital expenses.
