Few things are more emotionally painful than losing a loved one, especially a child, in a motor vehicle accident. This is particularly the case if the accident was the fault of another motorist who negligently caused the collision. Unfortunately, one toddler recently died in an auto accident in Connecticut.
The accident took place in Waterford on I-95. According to police, the car that the toddler was riding in slowed down due to traffic. A man said to be 58 years old was driving a truck in the area and reportedly ended up striking the car and a couple of other vehicles. Authorities said he suffered no injuries.
At the time of the accident, the toddler, a 2-year-old, was strapped in a car seat. He ended up dying at the accident scene, police reported. Two adults along with an older child, said to be 9, suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital, officials said.
The driver of the truck that apparently struck the car may face claims for financial liability for the toddler’s death and for the injuries resulting from the auto accident. The family members of the deceased toddler retain the right to file a wrongful death claim against him as well as file personal injury claims in light of their own injuries. If there is competent proof that the accident was the result of the truck driver’s negligence, liability will be established according to the standards of the civil court. At that time, a judge will adjudicate claims for damages in the plaintiffs’ favor in Connecticut.
