Two people recently lost their lives in a tragic car crash in Connecticut. The crash took place at nearly 3:45 a.m. on a Saturday. The surviving family members of the two auto accident victims may naturally be distraught and seek answers to their questions about what may have triggered the motor vehicle wreck.
According to police, a Mercedes carrying two individuals left a local roadway in Berlin. It ended up colliding with a tree before catching on fire. When officials reached the scene, the sedan was apparently totally submerged in flames; authorities said they couldn’t do anything to save the pair.
Firefighters extinguished the fire. However, the vehicle was destroyed to the point that it was beyond recognition. Police said they were still trying to determine what caused the auto accident. Witnesses said they had not seen a crash that bad before in the area and that even minor accidents weren’t known on that stretch of road. The names of the accident victims were not released to the public initially, and it is unknown whether the occupants of the vehicle were related in any manner.
The police investigation may reveal what caused the auto accident. If the driver was speeding or otherwise failing to observe a rule of the road when the accident happened, this may be deemed driver negligence in Connecticut. The family members of the deceased passenger may choose to consider proceeding with a wrongful death claim, seeking damages that can help to pay for their loved one’s funeral costs. Even though the driver of the car died in the accident, his or her estate may still be sued, as well as any separate owner of the Mercedes. A judge will determine claims for monetary damages in the plaintiff’s favor if liability is sufficiently established in civil court.
