It is painful for surviving loved ones and for the community at large to learn that a person has been killed or injured in a car accident. Unfortunately, two communities in Connecticut are dealing with the emotions associated with a loss following a fatal auto accident. The accident took place on a recent Friday evening, police reported.
The accident happened when the driver of a car was heading south on a road and failed to stop at a red traffic light. At that point, it collided with a car that a 73-year-old man was driving. The man’s 70-year-old wife was riding with him. The woman ended up suffering injuries in the crash and dying the next morning. Her husband suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
One 50-year-old man riding in the car that reportedly ran the red light was ejected and also died after being transported to the hospital. The driver of the car that allegedly caused the accident is reported to have fled the crash scene. At the time of the report, the police were still searching for the driver who ran.
Most drivers who leave the scene of an accident are caught. When the woman who allegedly caused the crash and fled the scene is apprehended, the family members of the two people who died in the auto accident, and the man who was injured, may decide to file claims in a Connecticut civil court, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages resulting from the crash. For the potential claims to be successful, they must be able to prove that she acted negligently, thus, causing the accident.
