It is essential that motorists exercise extreme caution when maneuvering around motorcyclists, who are especially at risk of getting hurt or dying in a vehicle collision due to the lack of bodily protection they have. Unfortunately, one motorcyclist recently suffered injuries in a Connecticut bike accident. This crash took place shortly before 11 a.m. on a Sunday.

The collision took place in the area of Route 179. The motorcyclist who was injured was taken to the hospital via a helicopter. His injuries were deemed serious, authorities reported.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether or not the person driving the car involved in the wreck had suffered injuries as well. The route where the accident took place had to be shut down for multiple hours following the collision. Charges had not been filed in relation to the crash, according to officials; police continued to investigate the incident.

If the driver of the car is found to have caused the accident due to negligent behavior, such as speeding or disobeying another rule of the road, the motorcyclist may opt to file a personal injury suit against the motorist. The bike accident victim has the right to pursue damages that can help to pay for accident-related medical costs as well as other losses recognized by our state laws, such as the loss of wages. Competent proof of negligence must be presented in order for liability to be satisfactorily established in a Connecticut civil court. Only when this happens will a judge decide the plaintiff’s claims for monetary damages.
