One man died and his wife was injured following a Connecticut collision involving three vehicles. The tragic motor vehicle accident took place on a recent Saturday shortly before 3 p.m. According to police, a man was standing beside the wife of his car, attempting to assist her with car issues after the vehicle was stuck on some ice.
A car was driving west on the roadway where the man and his wife were located. He had come running from his home to help her after she called home, barely a half mile away. Just as the husband was helping his wife out of her vehicle, a driver ended up losing control of his or her car and struck the husband. The victim suffered serious injuries, was taken to the hospital and died as a result of the impact.
The out-of-control car also hit the vehicle occupied by the wife, which was stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway. She suffered serious injuries, including broken ribs and multiple fractures of one leg. The car that hit her vehicle then rear-ended another one. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
The family of the deceased pedestrian may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver who is said to have struck him, pursuing a claim for financial damages that may help them to cover the man’s funeral expenses, any loss of income and other monetary losses accrued due to the motor vehicle accident. The injured woman may also choose to file a personal injury claim. A Connecticut civil court will adjudicate the claims for monetary damages if liability is established through appropriate proof of negligence.
