Sometimes an auto accident occurs because one driver fails to obey the rules of the road or drives recklessly or negligently. One person in Connecticut recently died in a tragic vehicle accident. In the recent auto accident, police said the accident that took the person’s life involved speeding.
Police said that on a Friday night in mid-March, they saw two vehicles speeding and believed that they were going at about 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. When police began to pursue the cars, one of them pulled over; however, the other vehicle kept going. The second vehicle reportedly ended up colliding with an automobile heading north along Route 159.
According to police, a 61-year-old man was attempting to turn onto the street and was struck by the car that was speeding. This man was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police said they believed that the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident had run a stop sign. The driver of the car that had pulled over disappeared at the time of the accident. Charges have not yet been filed in this case, and police continue to investigate the accident.
After Connecticut accidents in which reckless or careless drivers leave the auto accident scenes, family members of deceased victims may feel as if they have no legal options. Fortunately, law enforcement officials usually locate hit-and-run drivers. When these drivers are located, family members may choose to pursue wrongful death actions against them if they feel that their negligence caused their loved ones’ deaths.
