Becoming injured in a vehicle crash can be life-changing for a variety of reasons. The accident-related injuries may affect a person’s physical ability to function and work normally in the future. The auto accident may also cause emotional distress. One man unfortunately suffered serious injuries in a recent crash in Connecticut.

The accident happened after 4 p.m. on a Sunday. It occurred at the intersection of two streets, with one being Route 20. Police said a man, 58, was driving a car and ended up crashing into another automobile.

The man who was driving the first car suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was deemed critical. The man who was driving the second vehicle, 30, suffered no injuries. Another adult and two children in his car also were not hurt. The crash caused Route 20 to be shut down for four hours.

Authorities continued to investigate the collision. If it is discovered that the person driving the second car caused the accident due to careless driver behavior, the injured driver may opt to file a personal injury claim against him, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the auto accident. If awarded, damages may help to cover the hospital costs, loss of wages and other expenses linked to the injury-causing auto accident. A financial award may also help to address pain and suffering resulting from the Connecticut crash. Before a judge will adjudicate claims for monetary damages, liability must be established in civil court based upon proof of negligence.
