A wreck involving a single vehicle in Connecticut recently led to the death of one person and injuries to four others. The motor vehicle accident occurred along Interstate 395. It took place a little after 2 a.m. on a Sunday.
Police said the vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata, was heading east on an exit off-ramp. Apparently, the driver ended up losing control of the automobile while trying to merge. The vehicle went across a couple of lanes and hit a guard rail located in the median. The car then rolled over the guard rail before coming to a rest on the roof.
One person died at the accident scene. The other people in the car, ranging in age from 21 to 28, suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital. Two of them suffered serious injuries, while the injuries of the others were minor. The driver of the car, 25, suffered no injuries and ran away from the crash scene; police later discovered him at his home. He faces charges of evading responsibility in a car crash.
In addition to facing criminal charges in Connecticut, the person who was driving the car involved in the motor vehicle accident may also face legal challenges in the form of civil lawsuits. This is because the injured parties have the right to file personal injury claims against him, while the surviving loved ones of the deceased victim may choose to file a wrongful death claim. Financial restitution, which must be based upon appropriate proof of negligence, may help to cover expenses such as hospital bills and burial costs.
