One pedestrian was recently hit by a car in Connecticut. According to police, the accident was a hit-and-run crash. These kinds of pedestrian accidents can easily occur when a driver is speeding or engaging in some other form of negligent behavior behind the wheel.
Police said that the car crash took place at about 10 p.m. A pedestrian, age 17, was trying to cross the street that night. All of a sudden, a car struck the teenage boy and then drove off.
The teenager suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital, where his injuries were deemed to be life-threatening. Police are trying to track down the driver who allegedly struck the boy. They said the car was a white, older model Mitsubishi Eclipse, and it had a rear spoiler. The vehicle’s front windshield may also feature a crack due to the crash. When found, the driver will face felony evading charges and possibly other charges as well.
When the driver is found, in addition to facing criminal charges, this person may face a personal injury lawsuit filed by the injured pedestrian and his family. This is because people injured in pedestrian accidents have the right to sue the drivers deemed at-fault in the accidents, seeking monetary damages sustained in these crashes. If the driver in the recent Connecticut accident ends up being convicted of his or her criminal charges, proof of these convictions may be presented in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish liability in this case.
