A pedestrian accident recently took place in Connecticut, leading to serious and life-threatening injuries to one individual. Pedestrian accidents may easily happen when people driving near pedestrians are not cautious behind the wheel and end up striking these individuals. The recent accident occurred on a Friday night.

Police were called to an area at about 9:20 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian having been hit in a road’s travel lane. When police arrived, they found a man with serious injuries. The injuries were deemed to be life-threatening.

The man was taken to a medical center by ambulance. He was then taken to another hospital by helicopter. The car that reportedly struck the man was going south at the time of the crash. Police did not say whether or not the driver was facing charges.

If there is evidence that the driver of the car that allegedly struck the pedestrian was negligent — such as by speeding or driving while distracted — and that this caused the accident, the driver might face a personal injury claim filed by the victim. In this situation, the victim may opt to seek damages that can result from these types of pedestrian accidents. For instance, a monetary award may help the victim to pay for his medical bills or the loss of wages if his injuries prevent him from being able to return to work for a time. Awarded damages may even be helpful for addressing pain and suffering as well as emotional distress caused by the Connecticut collision.
