Two women lost their lives in a multi-vehicle collision in Connecticut recently. The crash took place along Interstate 95 on a Saturday. The motor vehicle accident involved eight vehicles, two of which were tractor trailers.
Two women, ages 38 and 61, passed away in the wreck, which occurred between Interstate exits 70 and 71 a little after 5:30 a.m. They were riding in a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old woman. She suffered serious injuries and was transported to a medical center. Other people involved in the collision suffered minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
The highway was shut down in both directions for many hours following the accident. Police said that all of the eight vehicles ended up coming into contact with each other somehow, but they were not sure what actually sparked the chain-reaction wreck. Police continued to investigate the collision.
An investigation by authorities may help to determine who was at fault in the massive motor vehicle accident. The driver who is found to have sparked the crash may face wrongful death claims filed by the families of the two female passengers who died in the wreckage. This driver might also face personal injury claims filed by the victims who suffered injuries in the collision. If more than one driver is found to be at fault, an apportionment of liability among them may be ordered by a Connecticut civil court. Financial restitution in a case that is fought successfully may help to cover monetary losses caused by the crash, such as medical center costs, burial expenses, the loss of companionship, pain and suffering and loss of income.
