One man has died and a woman has been injured in an automobile accident in Connecticut. The motor vehicle accident took place on a recent Sunday. It happened at a little past midnight.
Police received many 911 calls at about 12:17 a.m. regarding a vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle. Police said that the motorcyclist was going south on a turnpike. His bike then ended up colliding with the side of a vehicle while he was attempting to make a U-turn.
An ambulance took the 26-year-old motorcyclist and his passenger to the hospital. The motorcyclist died not long after arriving at the medical center. The 29-year-old driver of the car that was hit was also taken to the hospital, where she had to have surgery. Police said her condition was listed as guarded. Police continued to investigate the collision.
The status of the motorcycle passenger remained unclear. However, if he or she suffered injuries in the Connecticut crash, this person has the right to file a personal injury claim; if this person ends up dying, his or her family members may file a wrongful death claim in this case. The injured car driver may also file a liability lawsuit, seeking damages that — if awarded upon a showing of negligence — may help to cover her hospital expenses and other monetary losses stemming from the motor vehicle accident. Although the motorcyclist who allegedly caused the accident passed away, a lawsuit can still be filed against his estate and against any separate owners of the bike.
