One motorcyclist suffered injuries in an accident involving her motorcycle and a car, one of several accidents that took place on a recent weekend in Connecticut. The auto accident occurred in the morning on a recent Sunday. It took place along Route 12.
Police said the 55-year-old woman was going north on her motorcycle on the route at around 11:20 a.m. All of a sudden, a car that a 68-year-old woman was driving left a nearby driveway and turned in front of the motorbike. The motorcyclist pressed the brakes hard and ended up laying the vehicle down in order to avoid striking the car.
The motorcyclist suffered potentially serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. The car driver left the accident scene but did return later. Police charged the woman with not granting the right of way when leaving a driveway as well as with evading responsibility.
The car driver who faces charges following the two-vehicle collision may also end up facing litigation in civil court. This is because the motorcyclist who was injured may opt to file a personal injury claim against the car driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. If the car driver ends up being convicted on her charges, the motorcyclist may furnish proof of the convictions in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish liability in the injury auto accident.
