One woman sadly died in a recent hit-and-run accident in Connecticut. The pedestrian accident took place on a Tuesday morning. These types of pedestrian accidents sometimes occur due to the carelessness of the car driver; in which case, the driver may be held liable in civil court.
Police said the pedestrian accident occurred when the sun was rising one morning. They said a 60-year-old woman was driving but then got out of the car in order to help a dog that was in the road. All of a sudden, the woman was struck. The dog was also hit.
The woman died at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the dog, known as Champ, was transported to a veterinary hospital. Authorities reported that the individual who struck the woman fled the crash scene, but they were able to locate the individual, who is currently cooperating with authorities. No charges have been filed so far. Police continued to investigate the crash.
The driver may face a wrongful death claim filed by the family members of the woman who died. They have the right to pursue the reimbursement of damages. If achieved, damages may help family members in such a situation pay for the deceased victim’s burial costs and cover other expenses stemming from these types of fatal pedestrian accidents. For instance, a successful claim may help provide the family with the funds needed to reimburse the deceased victim’s dependents. However, no claims for monetary damages will be decided until and unless liability can be established in a manner that pleases the Connecticut civil court hearing the case.
