A Littleton, New Hampshire woman lost her life in a late evening car crash in Meriden on Saturday, May 26. The fatal crash occurred right around 11:30 p.m. on Route 15.

According to police, the woman had been riding in the rear passenger seat of a friend’s car when the driver apparently swerved over into the left shoulder of the highway. The man’s Chevrolet Equinox then reportedly crossed over a metal guardrail before ultimately coming to rest in the opposing lanes.

Somewhere along the lines the vehicle was struck by a second car as the police report reflects that another motorist was involved in the crash. It’s unclear if the driver of the vehicle struck the victim’s car forcing them onto the shoulder or if it collided with them after the fact.

Emergency responders arriving on the crash scene quickly tended to the motorists. By the time they reached the New Hampshire woman, she’d already expired.

As for two of her friends, they were each transported to area hospitals suffering from what’s been described as moderate injuries. The Chevy Equinox’s driver himself suffered the most minor of injuries.

Details about any injuries that the second driver may have suffered haven’t been released.

It’s still unclear what led to the Equinox’s driver swerving into the left shoulder of the highway. Police haven’t yet disclosed whether they believe drugs or alcohol may have played a role in causing this crash.
